Stedman Summary
In his article, "Annoying Ways People Use Sources", Kyle D. Stedman attempts to explain the many ways people as writers fail to cite there sources in the right manner, and to help writers in the future improve there work citing abilities. He argues that there isn't necessarily a "right" or "wrong" way a writer must follow to cite their sources, he says they are "conventions and not rules". Stedman explains many different ways writers can learn from to help them better cite their sources, such as, stating when a quotation is coming, including a quotation at the beginning of the passage, and paraphrasing the material or source that was used. All of Stedman's tips and annoyances all tie into his belief that a writer must follow their gut and trust in their own decions in order to correctly cite their sources and do their best with their writing.

1. Compared to Greene, Kantz, and Porter I believe Stedman focuses more on the importance of citing your sources, and some actual techniques we could use when citing. What I got from Porter was that it was OK to sort and gather the thoughts and ideas of others and base your writing off of it, which may or may not include their work. But with Stedman I think his point was that you must cite sources even if you don't necessarily completely plagarise.

2. In the past I have always been taught to cite my sources through quotations and page numbers. I was never the best at being able to pin-point where I actually used sources because I felt as if I always paraphrased and used my sources information as a guide to come up with my own thoughts.

3. When reading Stedman, my view on sources didn't really change. I knew the importance and some of the techniques that he stated.

I enjoyed this article and I think that by reading it, I remembered some of the things that my highschool teachers taught me a long time ago. I think Stedman used really helpful analogies and I think it's an easy article to understand.
